Overview

Problem Warfighters rely on electric motors and generators, but these often fail from bearing wear, oil breakdown, and shock — especially in harsh or denied environments. Failures reduce uptime, raise logistics, and weaken energy resilience.

Solution Motibera makes compact levitating motors "Motibera Halo" that remove friction, wear, and oil using magnetic forces — enabling reliable, maintenance-free operation in austere conditions.

Field Validation Pre-field. Lab demos and prototypes validated magnetic stabilization under varying load and speed.

Technology Maturity (TRL) TRL 3–4. Core subsystems, including magnetic suspension with multi-DOF control, are validated. Advancing toward integrated MIL-spec prototypes.

Strategic Advantage Our motor combines levitation and drive in one unit, reducing parts and volume. Unlike bolt-on systems, it’s compact, oil-free, and scalable. We hold foundational IP (patent pending) and are developing proprietary controls and TEA models.

Go-to-Market Access Pursuing AFWERX Phase I and exploring DIU. Targeting DoD integrator partners.

Dual-Use Potential Also fits HVAC, energy, and mobility — ideal for oil-free chillers, drones, and industrial drives.

Team Led by an Activate Fellow (PhD) with expertise in motor design, control, and power electronics.

Competitive Landscape Legacy systems are bulky, costly, or underpowered. Incumbents use passive or bolt-on mag bearings. We’re building a unified, low-cost, maintenance-free motor from scratch.

Primary User Electrification leads, expeditionary power PMs, and planners for austere HVAC, drones, and mobile power — also relevant to unmanned logistics and tactical energy teams.

User-Critical Problem Deployed systems need frequent bearing and oil maintenance, raising risk and downtime. Our motors eliminate this — extending missions, cutting resupply, and improving uptime.
